DoorFly.com provides a marketplace where home buyers can review the services of professional real estate agents. These real estate agents are willing to offer you incentives, such as a rebate of a portion of their sales commission to gain your business.
You create an online auction about the home you are seeking. Real estate agents then offer their services as a buyer’s agent by bidding on your auction. When your auction comes to an end, you select the agent that most appeals to you based on experience, reputation and rebate amount.
DoorFly then exchanges your and the agent’s contact information, so that you can work together to find and buy your new home. You and the agent will work out the details of the offered rebate.
DoorFly offers real estate agents an economic and efficient method of reaching active home buyers – that’s worth their subscription fee. And rebates to home buyers are a common practice among real estate agents who are competing for high quality customers – like you!
There are no obligations for home buyers to select one agent over another agent. In fact, you may decide the agent offering the highest rebate isn’t the best match for you. The decision is yours. DoorFly is simply providing the marketplace for you to meet real estate agents who can help you buy your next home.
DoorFly encourages you to select an agent for their experience, key offerings and most suited for your needs. If, however, things do not work out, DoorFly does not obligate you to continue working with an agent who doesn’t meet your needs. DoorFly merely “brings you together” to see if a working relationship can be had. If not, then you are free to work with another agent.
You may open a new auction and choose another agent if you would like.
Real estate agents often ask their customers to sign some form of document that states that the customer will work only with them for a certain period of time. This is due to the intense competition within the industry. If the agent you choose asks you to sign such a document, we recommend that you request to be given enough time to determine that a good working relationship can be achieved. (A “try before you buy” period.) A couple of weeks should suffice. Whether or not a agent/buyer agreement is used, DoorFly recommends that home buyers always do their own research before working with an agent – you may want to ask for references from the real estate agent and have an in-person or phone meeting first.
DoorFly is in the business of bringing parties together, not policing their actions. As such, DoorFly will not be responsible in any way for the misdeeds, if any, of the parties involved.
DoorFly recommends that you get an agreement in writing from the selected agent regarding the promised rebate amount and review it carefully at the very first meeting.
If you are not pleased with your selected agent, DoorFly encourages you to leave negative feedback about the agent on DoorFly.com. This would likely damage the agent’s ability to attract more customers.
No. At the time that DoorFly came online there were some states whose licensing regulations prohibit agents from rebating sales commissions. DoorFly is currently serving Indiana where “rebating” is legal.
